Eastside’s Building Transformation

HELP US Train up the next generation of creative thinkers….

Eastside Shoreditch’s parent company, the arts educational charity Eastside Educational Trust, is looking to fundraise towards developing our building to completely transform it in terms of accessibility, sustainability, flexibility and specifications to make it fit for the 21st century. We want to create spaces where we can deliver more in house training sessions to 16-25 year old budding film and digital creatives from disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as teacher and artist training sessions, and digital workshop delivery to primary and secondary schools across the country.

Last fully refurbished in the early 2000s when we moved in, it is desperately in need of updates to the layout, plumbing, heating, lighting and ventilation and changes to make the building fully accessible to all users. This would involve works to re-open decommissioned lifts; completely stripping out the basement fit out and fitting new low carbon impact systems and utilities; building in flexible partitions to allow us to create multiple workshop and studio spaces or one large training or event space; fitting purpose built edit and multi-media training facilities and re-plastering and painting the frontage and interiors and installing hand rails on the steps to provide a better welcome to our visitors, students, artists, staff and local community groups.

The whole project will cost around £350,000. We have final stage applications into major funders to cover £295,000 but still need to raise £55,000 to make the full concept a reality and to be able to provide the best equipment and experience to the young people we work with. If you would like to donate to this project please scan the QR code or click the donate button to give £2.50 o r more. If you are interested in becoming a major donor or supporter then please email Finance and Operations Manager, Felix Andrew, on felix@eastside.org.uk with the subject “Transformation project” to find out more about our plans.
